why all the emphasis on larger low restriction rear inlet systems? our huge mammoth® and bigun® rear inlet manifolds combined with industry leading throttle bodies, simply increases the all important air delivery to the supercharger and engine resulting in higher boost, hp and torque. a side benefit is the supercharger isn’t required to work as hard so uses less engine hp to drive it. since 1999, replacing and upgrading stock eaton 1.85, 2.1 and 2.3 superchargers and ford inlet systems on cobra’s, lightning’s and shelby’s with kenne bell has been – and still is a huge part of our business, as will be the 2019 shelby gt500 with it’s relatively small 2.65. we have a 3.2, 3.6, 4.2, 4.7 and 4.9 ready for upgrading. kenne bell is a 50 year old family owned company with a rich history of engineering, racing and testing hi-performance products and supercharger kits. we have proven on our test cars, air flow bench and chassis and supercharger dynos that nothing is more important to the hp potential and efficiency (mechanical and thermal) of any supercharger than being fed by a big well designed inlet system with minimum restriction/maximum air flow. it’s akin to sucking or breathing through a pinched off or restricted soda straw. you never want to knowingly or unknowingly starve a supercharger for air. and “bigger is always better” for all the inlet pieces (filter, meter, piping, couplers, throttle body and inlet manifold) as total air flow to the supercharger and the resultant hp gains are both limited by the smallest, most restrictive single component in the inlet tract, regardless of how “big” the others are. that is not to imply that “smaller” superchargers and inlet systems and/or front inlets do not work or fail to provide any hp gains over stock. they do. just don’t expect them to match the time proven combination of air flow, hp, lower sc parasitic loss, cooler air charge temps and the room to grow offered by a big dominant rear inlet kenne bell. the kenne bell 30-50hp advantage if undersize or stock filter boxes don’t choke off the supercharger, reduce boost/hp and heat up the air — then why does the competition offer high flow filter kit upgrades? and have you ever noticed that all the hp and track supercharger records are held by the hp superior rear inlets? so where are those little 2.3l and 2.65l front inlets? and there are no upgrades or initial choices for a more powerful 3l or 4l.. the 2.8, 3.6, 3.6, 4.2, 4.7lc, 4.9lc rear inlet twin screw supercharger line up develops 650- 1800hp with one basic kit. just upgrade the supercharger all the way up to a monster 4.7l with 168mm 2350cfm throttle body or even a bigun with a 3800 cfm oval 106 throttle body. unlike all those other kits which are based on the same lower cost and smaller 2.3s with more restrictive and limited inlet systems, these are big distinctive, powerful and highly efficient superchargers with matching kit components. ideal for the larger displacement/ higher hp 6.1-7.0l 2v fords and hemis. since the mammoth kit components are over engineered for minimum inlet restriction – the key to positive displacement supercharger hp- they also make hp – they also make more hp at lower boost/ hp levels. no cobbling together expensive parts in an attempt to match the mammoth kit airflow. just add a kb throttle body. superchargers are easily upgraded in 20 minutes as “all fits one”. then there’s the patened lc (liquid cooled) advantage. 2.8 , 3.2 , 3.6 , 4.2 , 4.7, & 4.9 the mammoth filter, meter, ram, air pipe, bypass system, inlet & discharge manifolds and intercooler are the same for all the kits. just add a throttle body and the necessary fuel for your hp / boost goals. at 15 psi, an 8-rib system is required. are front inlet superchargers really better?
